Add TimelinesAI to your AI client

Your assistant can't see your inbox until you tell it where to look. That's all this does: you give it one address, https://mcp.services.timelines.ai/mcp, and it remembers it. Desktop apps also need Node.js, a free program your IT team may already have installed.

Pick your client below. It's one command or one pasted block, and you only do it once per computer.

The config only tells your client where TimelinesAI lives. Nothing is installed in your workspace, and deleting the entry disconnects the assistant again.

Why it matters

Think of it as adding a new teammate to your inbox. It's the AI you already use for writing and research, and now it can also read your WhatsApp conversations and help with them. Your team keeps working in TimelinesAI exactly as before.

  1. 1

    Claude Code: run this command in your terminal.

    Terminal
    claude mcp add timelinesai -- npx -y mcp-remote@latest https://mcp.services.timelines.ai/mcp --host 127.0.0.1

    Prefer one click? Install the plugin instead:

    Claude Code
    /plugin marketplace add InitechSoftware/whatsapp-mcp-by-timelinesai
    /plugin install timelinesai-whatsapp@timelinesai
    Terminal after the command, showing timelinesai added
  2. 2

    Claude Desktop: open Settings → Developer → Edit Config and paste this block. Cursor: paste the same block into ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

    JSON

      "mcpServers": {
        "timelinesai": {
          "command": "npx",
          "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote@latest", "https://mcp.services.timelines.ai/mcp", "--host", "127.0.0.1"]
        }
      }
    }

  3. 3

    Codex: add this to ~/.codex/config.toml.

    TOML
    [mcp_servers.timelinesai]
    command = "npx"
    args = ["-y", "mcp-remote@latest", "https://mcp.services.timelines.ai/mcp", "--host", "127.0.0.1"]
    Codex config.toml with the TimelinesAI server added
  4. 4

    claude.ai or ChatGPT: add a custom connector and paste the URL https://mcp.services.timelines.ai/mcp.

Sign in once

There's no API token to copy or store. You sign in with your TimelinesAI account in the browser, and the assistant acts as you, with exactly your permissions.

The sign-in is cached on your computer, so every session after that reconnects on its own.

Because the assistant acts as you, it sees the numbers and chats your TimelinesAI role allows, and nothing more. A teammate who connects their own assistant sees their view, not yours, and every action shows up in TimelinesAI under the name of whoever made it.

Why it matters

The assistant gets the same key you have, not a master key. If you can't see a chat in TimelinesAI, neither can it. Anything it does is recorded under your name, so there's never a mystery about who did what, and you can remove its access at any time.

UsesOAuth sign-in
  1. 1

    Fully quit your client and open it again. Closing the window isn't enough.

    Quitting the app from the menu bar
  2. 2

    Ask your assistant anything about WhatsApp. A browser tab opens on mcp.services.timelines.ai.

  3. 3

    Log in with your TimelinesAI account and grant access.

Say hello to your inbox

Time for the payoff. These first questions only read your workspace, so nothing changes and nothing is sent.

If the assistant lists your numbers, the connection works end to end.

Every answer comes from your live workspace, not from a copy. If a number shows as disconnected, fix it in TimelinesAI first: the assistant can only see what the inbox sees.

Why it matters

Starting with questions that only read builds trust before you let the assistant change anything. It's how you'd onboard a new hire: first they look around, then they help.

    Ask for your numbers.

    Prompt
    What WhatsApp accounts do I have in TimelinesAI, and is each one connected?
  2. 2

    Check your quota.

    Prompt
    How much of my messaging quota have I used this month?
  3. 3

    Meet your team.

    Prompt
    Who's on my TimelinesAI team, and what are their emails?

    See your numbers? You're connected.

If something's off. No browser tab opened: copy the sign-in link from the client's log and open it yourself. Cursor says the redirect doesn't match: check the config says mcp-remote@latest. "No connected WhatsApp accounts": connect a number in TimelinesAI first, then ask again.
