Summarize a thread

Pick one busy chat. The easiest way to point the assistant at it is the chat ID: it's in every answer from “What needs me today”, and in TimelinesAI it sits under the contact's name. The contact's name works too.

The assistant reads the whole thread, including messages sent from the WhatsApp app on a phone, and hands back the short version. Nothing in TimelinesAI changes.

Summaries come out best when you choose the shape: three bullets, one paragraph, or a timeline.

Why it matters

When a chat changes hands, from sales to support or to a colleague covering a holiday, the new person needs the story fast. A summary gives them the context in seconds, and the customer never has to repeat themselves.

  1. 1

Ask for the short version. Replace the brackets with your chat ID or the contact's name.

    Prompt
Summarize chat [chat ID] in three bullets.
  2. 2

Get the whole relationship, not just one chat.

    Prompt
Summarize every chat with [contact] from this month, oldest to newest.

Pull out what matters

Summaries are great for getting your bearings, but decisions need specifics: the ask, the numbers, the promise. The assistant can also jump to the exact moment something was said, so you can check it with your own eyes.

Asking for named fields turns a messy conversation into facts you can act on. Name exactly the fields you need, and the answer comes back in the same order every time.

Why it matters

Deals and complaints turn on details: what was promised, for when, at what price. Pulling them out of the chat, and showing where each one was said, means fewer disputes and fewer “I thought you said…” moments.

  1. 1

    Extract the facts.

    Prompt
From chat [chat ID], tell me: what the customer is asking for, any price or quantity mentioned, and what was promised by our side.
  2. 2

Find the next step and who owns it.

    Prompt
Based on chat [chat ID], what's the next step, and who owns it?
  3. 3

    Zoom in on one moment.

    Prompt
Show me the conversation around the last message where the customer mentioned a delivery date in chat [chat ID].
?

Treat the summary as a map. Before you act on a price or a date, open the chat and check the original message.
